Todd Sweeney

Todd Sweeney, a former diver with the British Royal Navy, was in Cyprus looking out his hotel window when he saw a teenage girl having a seizure, then she sunk to the bottom of the swimming pool. Sweeney rushed to the pool, dove in, pulled her out and saved her life with his Navy CPR training.

The teenage girl, Sarah, was part of a group from London and is believed to have suffered a seizure while in the water.

“'We were relaxing and getting ready for the wedding when I suddenly noticed a body at the bottom of the pool,” Sweeney said. “I think my training just kicked in automatically. I got her out and did CPR. She'd turned blue and I had to get her breathing.”

Just three hours later, he married his fiancé, Hazel Bowden. She was so proud of his heroism, that she overlooked the fact that he dove into the pool wearing his full wedding tuxedo.
