Good morning from The Huckabee Report. I'm Mike Huckabee.

Happy World Freedom Day, America. That’s the holiday created to celebrate something we baby boomers never imagined we would see: the fall of the Berlin Wall. It was 20 years ago today that the world saw stunning images of that concrete and barbed wire obscenity cracking apart, the people from the East and West sides reaching through the hole to shake hands, and young people dancing on top of it, as if they were literally dancing on the grave of communist oppression.

20 years is a lot of time, though. An entire generation is now coming of age that never knew the Berlin Wall or what it represented. It’s hard to believe, but some of them are so upset over the risks inherent in freedom and the excesses of some capitalists that they’ve started to talk nostalgically about the security of the old days, when the government made all your decisions for you.

I suppose that’s understandable for a wet-behind-the-ears 19-year-old. But what’s the excuse of the House members who voted late Saturday night to shove Pelosicare down America’s collective sore throats? I’ll talk about that, after this…

It was Saturday night fever. The House barely passed Nancy Pelosi’s great white whale of a health care reform bill, 220 to 215. Supporting were 219 Democrats and 1 Republican – First term Louisiana Rep. Joseph Cao, who traded his vote for promises of more aid to his home state.

What did they vote for? A 2,000-plus-page bill that, as David Harsanyi of RealClearPolitics points out, repeats the word “shall,” as in what people or companies MUST do or else, over 3,000 times. A bill that claims an unconstitutional authority to force Americans to buy health insurance, fines them if they refuse, and sentences them to up to five years in prison if they don’t pay the fine. That’s right, you could go to prison for deciding not to spend your own money on health insurance. Oh well, at least you’ll get free government health care in prison.

Finally, congratulations to Cha Sa-soon of South Korea, who has finally passed her written driver’s license exam on her 950th try. It took her 4-1/2 years, and she only scored 60 out of 100, but D is a passing grade. Now, the bad news: she still has to pass the actual driver’s test. She might want to hold off on buying a Hyundai for another five years or so.
